Sansevieria, commonly known as snake plants, are robust houseplants originating from Africa, Madagascar, and southern Asia. They thrive in warm environments with plenty of bright light but are adaptable enough to grow in shaded areas as well. For optimal health, these plants require well-draining compost and minimal watering to prevent root rot.
For enthusiasts of unique succulents, the starfish sansevieria is a must-try. This distinct plant hails from Angola and boasts a starfish-like appearance. It features stiff leaves that grow from a basal rosette, forming a striking fan shape. The starfish sansevieria is exceptionally hardy and drought-resistant, requiring water only bi-weekly. It performs well in everything from bright sunlight to partial shade and will produce delicate greenish-white, pink-tinged blossoms when exposed to full sun.
